Taking into account Charlie Balch's comments, is vanity publishing, on
balance, a reduction in communication? 

>From another angle: If the prime duty is to communicate, does everyone share
that duty? Equally? If so, should any avenues be restricted or avoided?
Perhaps each serves different purposes, by communicating differently?
