Newmarket, northeast of Toronto, Ontario is the site of one of North America's
first "wired communities." Paul Hoffert wrote a book about it, titled "The Bagel
Effect: A Compass to Navigate Our Wired World". See "Block Party" by Paul
Hoffert at http://www.canspeak.com/BigIdea.htm . For more information, go to
Google.com and search on - "wired community", Newmarket - and you'll find
a number of items relating to this "wired community"............Alex

  Subject: [Air-l] networking communities

  Hi everyone.

I would appreciate any help members of the list can provide regarding studies of locally computer networked communities. Can anyone point me to references that cover the impact of networking such communities (for instance placing networked computers in peoples homes who all live on the same street)? I am particularly interested in that work that looks at the social capital that such initiatives produce.

Would any members have similar references regarding the local networking of people with various disabilities?

Thanks in advance for any help members can provide.

  Best wishes, Craig.
