You may be interested in the Ennis Town project in Ireland. The local telecoms company have begun wiring up the whole town. I don't know what analysis has been done on the impact on the community but it might be worth a look. Try http://www.einet.ie/iat.htm for starters.

  Subject: [Air-l] networking communities

  Hi everyone.

I would appreciate any help members of the list can provide regarding studies of locally computer networked communities. Can anyone point me to references that cover the impact of networking such communities (for instance placing networked computers in peoples homes who all live on the same street)? I am particularly interested in that work that looks at the social capital that such initiatives produce.

Would any members have similar references regarding the local networking of people with various disabilities?

Thanks in advance for any help members can provide.

  Best wishes, Craig.
