While it may be that Yahoo Groups includes many "private" lists, it 
includes many thousands of public lists as well.  For example, the 
sub-section "Cyberculture" offers information about 1661 publicly 
accessible lists.  And that's just one of 19 sub-sections of 
"Computers & Internet."
