The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation is seeking a dynamic and
highly motivated individual for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position.
Candidates should possess a strong interest in broadening career development
for PhD students.  This is a full-time position for an 18-month grant,
located at the Foundation's headquarters in Princeton.  The position will
contribute greatly to the Foundation's efforts to promote innovations in
doctoral education, and it reports to a Program Officer in the Office of
Program Development.  The candidate will be responsible for developing a
methodology to assess innovative approaches to training doctoral students in
the arts and sciences for careers outside of academe as well as in teaching
and research.  As the primary lead for this effort, the candidate will
interact with the leadership, graduate faculty and doctoral students at
major research universities, as well as with leaders in non-academic sectors
of the economy.
Chief Responsibilities:  Design a method for analyzing the efficacy of
alternative approaches to the preparation of PhDs; conduct research using
appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods; organize and coordinate
the administrative aspects of the project; develop and maintain a database
of best practices; plan and organize a best practices conference; prepare
manuscripts (reports, presentations, white papers, articles) and promotional
material through production and release; promote the project through various
media (a web site, listservs, etc.); and participate in efforts to cultivate
outside funding.
The ideal candidate will have:
*	A PhD or equivalent in experience, preferably in a discipline of the
Arts and Sciences, especially the social sciences (e.g., economics,
political science, sociology, anthropology or others), or public policy,
higher education administration/leadership;
*	Experience with educational program assessment and evaluation,
preferably with programs at the graduate level
*	Applied research and/or gov/private sector experience a plus
*	Excellent organizational and administrative skills
*	Keen interest in improving graduate education processes and outcomes
*	Ability to manage complex, fast-paced projects individually and as a
team member
*	Strong desire to learn the world of grant writing, grant making and
fellowships
*	Polished oral and written communication skills
*	Proficiency with standard office computing and database management

Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience, and well above
the national average for post-doc positions.  The Foundation provides an
excellent benefits package.  Position is open to U.S.  residents with work
permits.
