you could do worse than look at the work of CHArt (Computers and the 
History of Art) group <http://www.chart.ac.uk/>. They are both art 
hiostorians and curators, and embrace the heritage museums as well as 
art. The annual conference is an interesting event, Also of interest 
Archives and Museums Informatics <http://www.archimuse.com/>. Both 
have annual conferences: AMI in April in  Boston MA, not sure about 
CHArt.
