        LESLIE CENTER FOR THE HUMANITIES

        The Center wishes to announce the launching of a regular summer
institute in the new media, starting in July 2003. The institute will
consist of two seminars, running over a two-week period, conducted by
leading theorists in this field. The seminars will not be primarily
technical in focus; rather, they will create a setting for learning and
exchange in the rapidly evolving critical discourse(s) pertaining to the new
media. The first two seminars will be conducted by Lev Manovich (UC San
Diego) and Margaret Morse (UC Santa Cruz). Information, syllabi, and an
