Faculty Appointments 

The Information & Communications Management Programme in the Faculty of
Arts and Social Sciences at the National University of Singapore seeks
two or more open-rank faculty members in the social, political,
cultural, and ethical implications of information technology,
communication and society. The successful candidates will be expected to
help develop curriculum, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and
give new research directions to this new programme at NUS which is in
the process of expansion to include relevant areas of research in STS. 

Areas of interest include, contexts of computers and information use;
ethics and intellectual property rights; connectivity and digital
divide; users and identities; gendered aspects of IT; political
implications of IT; surveillance and privacy; cross-national comparisons
of IT development; innovation systems; bio-informatics; history of IT;
social and cultural aspects of IT design; cultural and critical studies
of information society; new media and popular culture; information
policy and industry; and social studies of information science and
technology.

Candidates with expertise in one or more of these areas should submit: 
(1) Letter of application describing their teaching and research
interests.
(2) Curriculum vitae.
(3) Three letters of recommendation. 
(4) Sample written work and syllabus (for junior level appointments)

PhD is required for appointment. 


Appointments will be on a tenure-track basis, and in exceptional cases
tenure will be granted on appointment. Salary and benefits are
competitive

Review of applications will begin on June 20, 2002 and continue until
September 3, 2002. Ideally successful candidates will be able to
commence duties at NUS by January 6, 2003.
