Thus, to understand the history of the Internet, I propose to study at
least 5 development paths and write their development history: the
scientific, the social/associative, the commercial, the
public/administrative, the military and other large intranets.

That's a good way of looking at it, but don't forget the educational strand,
the president of Cisco having claimed that education would be the
Internet's "killer app". With online education,  virtual universities and
e-training, never mind less formal educational uses of the Net, education
has to be a major developmental strand.........Alex
