The Association of Internet Researchers is an interdisciplinary and
interprofessional organization dedicated to advancing the
cross-disciplinary field of Internet studies. Our primary goal is to
promote scholarly and critical research into the social, cultural,
political, economic and aesthetic aspects of the Internet by building
a resource and support network independent from traditional
disciplinary and professional borders. In just four years, we have
linked 1,200 internet researchers through air-l, and have brought
hundreds together face-to-face through our three annual conferences.
Our strength as an association derives from our membership, and we'd
like to remind you of the many benefits of paid membership, some of
which are worth more money than the modest cost of membership:

(1) Access to conference paper archives from Internet Research 3.0 and 1.0

(2) 20% Discount on all books in Routledge Press's Cyberstudies catalogue.

(3) Journal subscription discounts (most more than cost of membership):

-Information, Communication and Society (50% discount)
-Cyberpsychology and Behavior (~30% discount)
-The Information Society (~30% discount)
-New Media & Society (20% discount)
-e-Service Journal: A Journal of Electronic Services in the Public
and Private Sectors (20% discount)

(4) Discounted Conference Registration.

(5) The right to vote on executive committee positions, serve on
working groups, run for elected office, and otherwise do your part to
make this association what you wish it would become.

(6) The knowledge that you help make it possible for us to meet face
to face each year and create the possibility for new initiatives. We
are a young association and have minimal financial resources. As we
grow, the cost of hosting conferences increases considerably, as do
the number of great ideas members have for other ways we could spend
money. AoIR uses all the money we get to make this association better
for our members. We are an all-volunteer association. No one gets
paid!

We do our best to keep the cost of membership reasonable. Dues are as
follows (all figures in US$):

*	professional (person) - $35
*	graduate student (includes Ph.D. students) - $25
*	individuals in non-OECD countries - $10
*	non-profit institutions in non-OECD countries - $25
*	affiliate membership (persons and non-profit institutions in
non-OECD countries, unwaged) - free to a maximum of two years,
includes only listserve and basic aoir.org web access
*	educational institution (academic department, library, etc.) - $250
*	non-profit organization - $100
*	lifetime individual membership - $1000
*	corporate sponsor (for-profit institution) - $2000
