Hi Radhika/all

Your student might be interested in Gerard Goggin's great project. I'm not
sure if anything's been published yet but it would be worth them getting in
touch.

best

'Inventing the Internet Oz Style: A Cultural History of Australian Internet'

Gerard Goggin - Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies, University of
Queensland

Institute for Social Research, Swinburne University of Technology,
Wednesday, 9 April 2003, 12.30-1.30
Seminar Room AR103, AR Building, (Hawthorn Campus)

The topic:

As a recently new media technology, the internet has enjoyed
extraordinarily rapid adoption. But what do we really know about how it has
shaped and been shaped by Australian culture? This paper discusses early
findings from a major project on the cultural history of Australian
internet. Focussing on the use of the internet by alternative communities
in Northern New South Wales, and the case of pioneering internet company
Pegasus, it offers a fresh perspective on Australian internet.
