[In the interest of ensuring all who may be interested take note of
the extension of the deadline for submission of AoIR 4.0 conference
proposals to March 10, I am re-sending this message. -Sj]

There have been some questions concerning limits to conference
submissions. In the interest of allowing for breadth of
participation, AoIR's intention is to allow multiple submissions, but
limit to:

One acceptance in each of the two categories below, determined after review:

1) paper proposal (main author)
2) panel proposal (organizer)

There is no limit to the number of times a person may:

3) be part of paper proposal(s) as co-author
4) serve as panel chair/discussant
5) serve as panel, roundtable or other non-panel event participant

Furthermore, while we would like to keep the length of proposals
reasonable so that reviewers may read proposals in a timely fashion,
it is true as Jeremy noted in a previous email that the online
proposal system allows for every paper, including those in panels, to
be up to 700 words, and that each panel description can have 700
words for itself - this means that a panel with 4 papers could have
3500 words (5 parts, proposal and 4 papers, each of 700 words).
However, I do encourage panel organizers to keep as close as possible
to the limits expressed in the call for papers: The panel organizer
should submit an approximately 500 word statement describing the
session topic, include abstracts of up to 250 words for each paper or
presentation (e.g., 1000 words for four papers).

NOTE: Given this need for clarification, the conference submission
deadline is extended until MARCH 10, 2003.

If there are any additional questions please contact me or Conference
Program Co-Chair Matthew Allen (M.Allen at exchange.curtin.edu.au), or
for questions about the online submission system contact Jeremy
Hunsinger (jhuns at vt.edu).

Thank you,
Steve Jones
