Actually I would argue that the coverage is distinctively NOT like a 
videogame, which is, after all, interactive. It could be like a cutscene 
in a game that you are forced to watch, before getting back to *your* 
role.

Perhaps that's one reason-- little control over the outcome. How many 
protests have we seen, and how little has it seemed to matter about what 
happens? In that situation, why not withdraw?
