a citation out of electronic journal on Internet issues, Firstmonday
(http://www.firstmonday.org/instructions.html)

For general Internet writing style and usage, authors are encouraged to
consult Wired Style: Principles of English Usage in the Digital Age,
edited by Constance Hale (San Francisco: HardWired, 1996). For example,
the World Wide Web can be referred to as the Web or the World Wide Web but
not the web (something that spiders construct to attract meals). The
Internet should be called the Internet, not the internet or the net (used
by fishermen for meals) or the Net or the 'Net. Electronic mail can be
referred to as e-mail or E-mail but not email or Email.

Hope the reference in that citation helps.
