Dear Sandeep -
I found the following book extremely helpful
Ulf-Dietrich Reips is on this list and probably too
modest to plug his own book!
Batinic, B., Reips, U-D., Bosnjak, M. (Eds). 2002.
Online Social Sciences. Seattle: Hogrefe & Huber.
I will have a review of it out shortly, but note that
most of the research methods here are detailed from
the social cognitive and psychological perspective.
There's 26 chapters, so plenty of material there in a
variety of online settings (OLP - online panels, MUDs,
Usenet, online dating, online experiments, online
personality tests, etc.) Also, most chapters include
the stats that compare their online vs. pencil/paper
findings. The URLs to the research sites are all
listed. A very very useful reference even if your
brief is outside of psychology.
Cheers, Denise
