The Association of Internet Researchers has begun planning for its
2004 conference (location to be announced in Toronto). At this time,
the executive committees (current and incoming) are preparing to
appoint an AoIR member to be the Program Chair. This message is a
call for interest. In brief, the duties of the program chair include
working with the local host to craft the conference theme and Call
For Papers, organizing the reviewing of the conference submissions,
notifying submitters of acceptance and rejection, and combining the
papers into panels and scheduling them. In essense, the program chair
is the 'editor' of the event. It is a big job that requires time,
experience, and diplomacy. It is also a fantastic way to discover
first hand the breadth and quality of current internet research.

If you would like to be considered for program chair, please send me
a note to that effect. Include any qualifications you would like us
to consider. You should also feel free to let us know if there are
others whom you think would do an outstanding job and would like us
to consider. If possible, please respond by Tuesday Oct 14th. If you
are interested or have a great idea but aren't able to reply by then,
seek me out in Toronto or email me when you are able.

Thank you!

Nancy
