Le Département de communication est à la recherche de candidats ou
candidates pour occuper des postes de professeure ou professeur régulier, à
plein temps au rang d'adjoint ou récemment promu agrégé.

 

Les candidats ou candidates doivent avoir démontré des intérêts de recherche
dans l'un au moins des domaines suivants :

 

·       Communication organisationnelle : étude des processus

communicationnels qui sont engagés dans les différents aspects de la réalité
organisationnelle.  Nouveaux développements dans le domaine des
organisations, comme par exemple les nouveaux modes d'organisation et la
gouvernance des entreprises.  Analyse des échanges communicationnels entre
les organisations et leurs partenaires sociaux et économiques.  Étude des
pratiques et des processus publicitaires ainsi que des relations publiques.

·       Communication inter-culturelle : étude des problématiques

contemporaines de la diversité, de la diaspora, de l'hybridité, des
métissages et des rapports internationaux ou transnationaux entre cultures
ou groupes culturels.

 

·       Communication, culture et pouvoir :  étude des pratiques

(signifiantes, discursives, ou médiatiques), des produits culturels et des
institutions engagés dans la formation et la gestion des conduites

individuelles et collectives.   Analyse des processus, des dispositifs ou

des acteurs qui participent à la définition des espaces et des cultures
publiques ou populaires.  Pratiques de gouvernance à l'échelle nationale et
internationale.  Analyse de l'économie politique.  Étude des rapports
culture-pouvoir.

 

Une priorité sera accordée au candidat ou à la candidate capable

d'enseigner:

 

·       Théories de la communication : théories classiques et contemporaines

de la communication. Aspects épistémologiques, logiques, éthiques et/ou
esthétiques des phénomènes communicationnels.

·       Méthodes quantitatives : production et usage des statistiques dans

les médias, dans la recherche en communication ou dans un domaine connexe.
Méthodes statistiques de base (statistiques descriptives, tests
d'hypothèses), initiation à l'usage des logiciels d'analyse de données

(SPSS) et démarches de recherche utilisant les données quantitatives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Les candidats ou les candidates doivent détenir un doctorat (ou être sur le
point de l'obtenir) en communication ou dans une discipline connexe et avoir
une expérience de recherche pertinente à l'un ou l'autre des domaines nommés
ci-dessus. Les candidats ou les candidates devront avoir démontré des
qualités de dynamisme et de créativité en recherche et en pédagogie. Une
bonne connaissance du français est nécessaire.

 

RESPONSABILITÉS

Les candidats ou les candidates seront appelés à offrir des enseignements
théoriques ou méthodologiques aux trois cycles, à encadrer les étudiants et
étudiantes aux études supérieures, à poursuivre des activités de recherche,
de publication et de rayonnement ainsi qu'à contribuer au fonctionnement
institutionnel.

1er juin 2004, ou plus tard, le cas échéant.

FACULTY POSITIONS - PROFESSOR

The Department of Communication of the Université de Montréal is recruiting
candidates for full-time positions at the rank of assistant or beginning
associate professor.

 

Successful candidates will have demonstrated research interests in at least
one of the following thematic areas:

 

--      Organizational communication : the study of communicative processes

involved in the various aspects of organizational life. New developments in
organizations such as new modes of organization and governance. Analysis of
communication exchanges between organizations and their social and economic
partners.  Study of advertisement practices and processes and of public
relations.

--      Inter-cultural communication: the study of contemporary issues of

diversity, diaspora, hybridity, metissage, and transnational or
international relationships between cultures or cultural groups.

--      Communication, culture and power : the study of the (signifying,

discursive or mediated) practices, cultural products and institutions
involved in the formation and the management of individual and collective
conducts.  Analysis of the processes, apparatus and actors that contribute
to the definition of popular or public spaces and cultures.  International
and national practices of governance.  Analysis of political economy.  Study
of culture-power relations.

 

Priority will be given to candidates who have the ability to teach:

 

--      Theory of communication : Classical and contemporary communication

theories. Epistemological, logical, ethical and/or aesthetic aspects of
communication phenomena.

--      Quantitative research methods: production and use of statistics in

the media, in communication research or in a related field. Introduction to
quantitative methods (descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing), data
analysis software programs (SPSS) and research design involving quantitative
data.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold (or be about to obtain) a Ph.D. in
communication or a related discipline and possess relevant research
experience in one or more of the thematic areas mentioned above. They will
have demonstrated dynamism and creativity in research and teaching.
Candidates will have to demonstrate a  working knowledge of French within a
reasonable period of time.

 

DUTIES: Successful candidates will be expected to teach theoretical or
methodological courses (in French) at undergraduate, masters and doctoral
levels, as well as to supervise graduate students, conduct research,
publish, contribute to the field and assume administrative responsibilities.

 

STARTING DATE: June 1st, 2004 or later.  Positions will remain open until
they are filled. The Université de Montréal offers competitive salaries
