The Department of Communication and Information Sciences and the 
Center for Language and Cognition at the University of Groningen seek
applicants for two new permanent positions, one at associate- and one 
at assistant-professor level (UHD and UD in the Dutch system). 
Preferred specializations: intercultural/organizational communication 
and computer-mediated communication. 
Deadline for applications: 15 September 2004 (electronic submission is
possible).

Education and research in Communication Studies at the University 
of Groningen focus on communication within the context of society 
(institutions and media), which is studied from a discourse perspective.

Within the educational program the discourse profile is realized in 
three specializations within the MA program: Language, Culture, and
Organization (organizational communication, intercultural
communication),
Language, Image, and Sound (multimodal communication, semiotics,
critical
discourse analysis) and Computer-Mediated Communication (communication 
with and by means of computers, computational models). 

Extra academic staff is needed especially in the domains of Language, 
Culture, and Organization and Computer-Mediated Communication. 
We are therefore looking for enthusiastic candidates who have an 
outstanding academic reputation in the field of internal, external, or 
intercultural organizational communication or in the field of digital 
communication, such as websites, e-mail, computer-supported cooperative 
work, and natural language dialog systems. For the associate-level (UHD)
appointment, a strong research program and grant procurement potential
