[Air-l] Tutorial: How to unsubscribe from air-l

Are people perhaps misunderstanding how an unmoderated
Listserv- (or similar software) based email discussion
list works? An email message sent to air-l at listserv.aoir.org
by any subscriber is distributed to all subscribers.
To stop getting all the messages sent to the list by
subscribers, one has to unsubscribe from the list
either through the web interface or through an message
sent to the unsubscribe address.

I hope I'm not out of line here, because I'm only
involved in this list as a subscriber and in AOIR
as a member. I do know though from founding and then
years of adminstering a huge unmoderated email list that
started out running with the old majordomo software
and then moving to L-Soft and using Listserv software
that there can be some confusion about what email is
coming from whom and how when one is subscribed to
lists. (In fact, when the list topped 1000 subscribers
and 50+ posts a day, I changed the header to make the
reply default "sender" rather than "list", which did
help with list volume and confusion, but also squelched
information sharing.)
