Understanding Media: The extensions of man by Marshall McLuhan (1911-1980),
Canada's intellectual comet, was published in 1964. Forty years later, the
McLuhan Global Research Network invites scholars, students, artists, and
members of the public to participate in this online symposium on the impacts
and relevance of this now classic work.

The responses online will be curated and displayed at the Understanding
Media Critical symposium to be held in Winnipeg at the University of
Manitoba (McLuhan's alma mater) on June 4, 2004, 12:30 - 2 PM, as part of
the annual Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Congress (Multimedia
theatre - Rm. 100, Fletcher Argue).

To join the symposium live during that time, visit www.mcluhan.ca for
instructions on how to participate virtually.
