there are many ways to watch. my favorite, and i believe this is mentioned 
by Bruce Schneier, is content-free analysis. just measure the volume and 
frequency of communications with out regard to the content. this can be 
focused on a thread (like this one), among groups or between individuals. 
makes for nice maps and is easier than trying to break a code.
