[Air-l] Wednesday AOIR Accomidation screw-up

This is a question and warning to AOIR participants who perhaps thought they would have accomidations at Sussex Wednesday night.

Just today I received a snail-mail informing me that my reservations for the dorm that I made over a month ago for Sat-Wed night (as I am leaving Thursday AM) have been altered. I have just NOW been informed that my Wednesday night reservation has been cancelled as it is "not available."

First off, why did the conference website allow me to make this reservation if it is not available? And take my money (they say they are refunding me)?

Second, why the hell send airmail from Brighton to Washington state so I find out the day before I leave than email me right away so I could make other arrangements?

How are participants supposed to be encouraged to attend the sessions on the last day if they are being tossed from their rooms that night?

I would like to hear from the organizers about this as this last minute BS is most unappreciated. Are they going to figure out an alternative for those us us hung out to dry? I know of at least one other person in my situation and there has to be more.
