[Air-l] 2005 Keynote Speakers

I am pleased to announce the keynote speakers for the Association of 
Internet Researchers' 2005 Meeting in Chicago. Remember the deadline 
for submitting proposals has been extended to the 20th of February. 
I look forward to seeing many of you there!


Ang Peng Hwa

Dr. Ang is the Dean of the School of Communication and Information at 
Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His research focusses 
on media law and policy with a special emphasis on the Internet. A 
former journalist with a Singapore daily and a qualified lawyer, his 
research covers legal and policy issues in the media on such areas as 
copyright, media self-regulation, and free speech and censorship.


Sonia Livingstone

Dr. Livingstone is Professor of Social Psychology and a member of the 
Department of Media and Communications at the London School of 
Economics. She has published widely on the subject of media 
audiences. Her recent work concerns children, young people and the 
internet, as part of a broader interest in the domestic, familial and 
educational contexts of new media access and use.


Saskia Sassen

Dr. Sassen is the Ralph Lewis Professor of Sociology at the 
University of Chicago, and Centennial Visiting Professor at the 
London School of Economics. Her research focusses on issues of 
governance and accountability in a global economy. She is co-director 
of the Economy Section of the Global Chicago Project, a Member of the 
National Academy of Sciences Panel on Urban Data Sets, a Member of 
the Council of Foreign Relations, and Chair of the Information 
Technology, International Cooperation and Global Security Committee 
of the SSRC.
