PhD studentships [3 years fixed term]-- up to $32,000 per annum
Applications are invited for a number of full-time PhD studentships in
the areas of network mining [a new branch of unstructured datamining],
e-negotiation and multiagent systems in the eMarkets Group of the
Faculty of Information Technology, University of Technology, Sydney. The
Faculty has a vibrant research culture with strong emphasis on basic
research, and on applied research in collaboration with industry
partners. The e-Markets Research Group
(http://research.it.uts.edu.au/emarkets) has funding from two ARC
Discovery Grants, and a Linkage Grant with the international
telecommunications company Alcatel (France). The e-Markets Group
focusses on developing Artificial Intelligence techniques for deployment
in distributed market-based applications including, but not limited to,
next-generation communications networks.
The total scholarship support per studentship is negotiable up to 32K.
Students, who have already been granted postgraduate awards are
particularly encouraged to apply as negotiable top-ups are available.
The successful applicant is expected to have a solid background in
Computer Science and Information Technology and a sustained interest in
multidisciplinary research in applied artificial intelligence
particularly: multiagent systems, e-negotiation, data mining, network
mining and network analysis, understanding of complexity issues, and
interaction with the researchers in the fields. Applicants should have a
good academic record with a demonstrable capacity for research and
should be willing to work to deadlines in a dynamic team.
