Two Full-Time Positions

The Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at University of
Nevada Las Vegas seeks applicants for two openings for 9-month, tenure-track
positions starting August 2006.

Job 1: Senior Professor candidate will teach combination of courses in
theoretical and applied public relations, advertising, and social marketing
as well as areas of candidate specialization. Applicants must have
demonstrated record of outstanding teaching and/or training experience and
nationally recognized program in research and/or creative activity. Ph.D. in
journalism, mass communication or relevant field required with professional
experience desirable. Preference for candidates with demonstrated record
suitable for tenure consideration at time of hire.

Job 2: Assistant Professor candidate will teach theoretical and applied
undergraduate and graduate classes in journalism and mass media including
media law and maintain and active research program leading to scholarly
publications. Ph.D. in journalism, mass communication or related field or a
JD from an accredited college or university required with professional
experience desirable. Preference will be given to applicants with a media
law specialty and demonstrated record of successful teaching and research. 

Program: School was created in 2004 and includes congenial and growing
faculty. In 2008 a new $60 million building with TV studios, FM radio
station, convergence lab and other facilities will be completed. Program has
undergraduate and MA majors in advertising/public relations, broadcast
journalism/production, and print including visual communication.
Metropolitan area is dynamic, international, entrepreneurial and
fast-growing with fine libraries, museums, art galleries and parks. Nearby
mountains provide hiking and skiing opportunities with boating on Lake Mead.
