For those of you who thought the discussion of "transdisciplinary" was
pernicious trolling I admit to an ignorance that was fostered by years of
using a similar word in common usage. "Interdisciplinary". At the risk of
being condescending to you all, my research, led me to an understanding of
transdisciplinary as more than a creative change of prefix.
This research le me to the writings of Basarab Nicolescu who is president of
Centre International de Recherches et d'Etudes Transdisciplinaires (CIRET).
In reading his work and the charter of the organization, I have come to
understand there are some important distinctions between "transdisciplinary"
and "interdisciplinary" particularly and it applies to science, research and
empirical methods. It is also important to discussions of whether "Internet
studies" is a discipline and what methodologies are considered real
scholarship in the context of academia.
I invite you to read the charter of this organization and related works and
draw you own conclusions. I would appreciate your comments.

I have been unable to find a clearly defined methodology associated with
this point of view. Could anyone point me to such a work.
