Absolutely.
For an interesting application, I just read about a poker chip manufacturer
embedding RFID in the internal metal disc that gives composite chips their
near-clay weight. The tags would allow the dealer, casino, audience, etc. to
instantly see each bet, the pot, current stakes, house rake, etc. Put in
real money, they could allow a well-equipped child, hot dog vendor, or pan
handler to *know* you have an extra dollar in your wallet.
