Call for Submissions: NUTN 2006 Research Paper Award
Deadline: February 3, 2006
The National University Telecommunications Network (NUTN) is seeking
nominations for the annual research paper award. The Theme of the 2006
Annual Distance Learning Event is âManaging and Maintaining Quality in
Distance Learning.â Research papers nominated for this award should
represent an actual research study including the following components:
· A clearly articulated and testable hypothesis or problem statement;
· An introduction with a strong theoretical base and review of relevant
literature;
· Clearly explained samples and sampling methods;
· Follow sound research protocol, whether in keeping with quantitative
methods (e.g., experimental or quasi-experimental design) or qualitative
methods (e.g., focus groups or text analysis); and
· Present findings and recommendations in keeping with the research
methodology.
The results and/or recommendations of the study must demonstrate a
contribution to our understanding of the principles, practices, and
approaches that lead to improved student learning. The findings of the
research should be applicable to the distance learner. A case study of a
single entity will not be accepted as an acceptable research method.
The recipient of the Research Award will make a presentation of the paper
at NUTN 2006 in Minneapolis, MN, June 10-12, 2006, and will receive a
complimentary registration to attend the event. Papers nominated should be
submitted electronically by February 3, 2006. The Award recipient will be
notified by March 3, 2006.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A Full Research Paper, accompanied by an (25-50 word)
abstract, should be submitted to nutn at odu.edu for Awards committee
approval.
