I really appreciated Danah's post on MySpace because it gave some specific
data on age, socioeconomic status, etc.
My plea is that others do the same. Even if you discuss with your
university students, a bit about what the sample size is, where located,
age, and rough ethnicity/socioeconomic description would be appreciated.
It will help people understand what you are saying and place it in
context.
My other plea is to try to write in jargon-free English as much as
possible. Sometimes jargon is necessary, but this is an international,
interdisciplinary list, and clear writing would be great. If you look at
the most recent digest, it is jargon-filled, and even from a linguistics
professor!
