Dear Colleagues,

The following seminar may be of interest to some of you. It is part of a series we are organising at the Department of Media and Communications at the LSE on the Mediation and Representation of Suffering. All are welcome.

Reframing Suffering: Representations of Non-Violent Resistance to Terrorism

Dr. Jolyon Mitchell, Edinburgh University

Thursday 11 May

12.30 - 14.00 h, Room S421, 4th Floor, St Clement's Building, LSE

This illustrated presentation investigates the phenomenon of posting onto the web visual and verbal representations of non-violent resistance against terrorism. Dr Mitchell will primarily analyse the use of created or adapted images, both secular and sacred, as forms of expressive response to the suffering and anxiety caused by recent terrorist attacks, including the July 2005 London bombings.

Best wishes,

Shani
