Robert Gagne' in "The Physical Dimensions of Consciousness" wrote that early
man was compelled to express himself with sticks in the mud. Graffiti, as
irritating as it may be, is an expression of people without voice, pallet or
that matter mud.

Picasso was once asked, "What is Art?" He said, "Art is what the artists say
is art". Graffiti may well conform to that definition and the more abrasive
it is may be the message. Be it on a wall or the internet the surface is the
pallet or the canvas and it is still art.

The same forces that drive trivial research and papers drive graffiti in any
medium. Graffiti on the side of a subway generally has a bigger audience.
