Indiana University’s School of Journalism on the Bloomington campus
seeks applications for multiple positions, with areas of emphasis in
broadcast journalism, online media, visual communication, public
relations and strategic communications, or news-editorial. The school
will consider applicants for all levels of appointment, including
tenured (based upon successful review by the school and the
university) and tenure track.

Because Indiana is a research university, faculty members in a tenure-
track position should have the credentials (normally a terminal
degree) to conduct significant and interesting research or creative
activity in journalism and mass communication. Applicants also should
have current and significant professional and/or teaching experience
(usually three or more years) in their field of expertise and should
be committed to teaching and service.

Rank and salary for each position will depend on academic and
professional qualifications and experience. The positions begin in
January 2007 and in August 2007.

The School of Journalism offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in
journalism as well as a Ph.D. in mass communication. At this large,
state university in the hills of southern Indiana, the School is a
relatively small and respected unit with 20 full-time, tenure-track
or tenured faculty members and a growing enrollment of about 600
undergraduates and 75 graduate students. The faculty consists of a
seasoned group of educators with a wide range of professional
backgrounds and research interests. The university and school are
noted for their research programs and are equipped with state-of-the
art resources for instruction and research. For more information, see
the school’s
website at http://www.journalism.indiana.edu.

Applicants should send a letter of application, resume and names of
three references to:

Professor Jon Dilts
Search Committee Chair

The search committee will start reviewing applications as they

given full consideration for a position.
