Dear AoIR-ists,
On behalf of the AoIR Executive Committee - we request expressions of
interest from internet researchers in Europe who would wish to host the 2008
AoIR conference and serve in the role of Conference Chair. (While preference
has been expressed to locate the conference in southern Europe in that year,
we are happy to receive expressions from any part of Europe.)
The Conference Chair role is a major one, involving significant
administrative work and financial responsibility.
It is the Executive's expectation that Conference Chairs will have:
experience in conference organisation;
access to assistance from other local staff and students;
and be prepared to make a strong commitment to the success of the conference
- e.g., by seeking out additional financial support for the conference in
the form of sponsorships, local institutional support, grants, etc.
The Conference Chair will work along with a Program Chair, who is
responsible for the academic program of the conference, as well as a member
of Executive Committee in organising the conference.
If you are interested in working with AoIR to site and organise the 2008
conference, please email Charles Ess <cmess at drury.edu> with a brief
statement about where you will host the conference, the advantages of that
location, your experience and qualifications, and any local support you may
be able to arrange.
With thanks in advance,
- charles ess
