Although this is something of a preoccupation of mine the only  
reference which leaps to hand is Farquharson, K. (2006) "“What Do You  
Do?” the Disclosure of Class Online". in AoIR 7, Brisbane, Australia.  
It isn't downloadable but the author  
KFarquharson at groupwise.swin.edu.au may be willing to send you her  
presentation and hopefully will pop up here with some of the  
references she used.
