This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but opensecrets.org is a
nonpartisan site that has data going back for a few elections cycles.

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/index.asp?cycle=2008

Maplight.org also has very detailed funding information broken out by
legislator (legislative branch only) and by bill.

Subject: [Air-L] Stats on U.S. Presidential donors increases, online impact

Is anyone out there tracking the total number of U.S. Presidential
primary donors/donations over the last few election cycles as well as
numbers that quantify the impact of online donations on the total raised
as well as the number of donors/donations?

I am putting together a presentation slide in the next couple days.
