Department of Communication Studies

POSITION
Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Technology and Cultural Studies,
beginning July 1, 2008. We are particularly interested in people with
research and teaching interests in some aspect(s) of the study of
technology and communication, especially media technologies. The
successful candidate will contribute to the department's strengths in
critical and cultural theory.

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate
courses appropriate to their specialty, conducting research, supervising
theses and dissertations, and performing departmental, university and
public service. Salary is competitive.

QUALIFICATIONS
     Ph.D. in Communication Studies, Media Studies, or related
discipline.  Candidates should have a significant record of, or the
potential for, outstanding teaching, research, and service.

GENERAL INFORMATION
     The Department of Communication Studies has 25 full-time faculty
positions with existing areas of emphasis in Interpersonal and
Organizational Communication, Rhetorical Studies, Performance Studies,
Media Studies, and Communication and Cultural Studies.  Approximately
850 undergraduate and 55 M.A. and Ph.D. graduate students major in the

     The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is located in
one corner of the Research Triangle and has an enrollment of
approximately 27,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
