I wanted to let you know about a great new online resource called IssueLab.

In particluar, the media session of the issues areas has many new research
and reports of our interest.

IssueLab is an online publishing forum for nonprofit research. It's mission
is to aggregate and disseminate a diverse body of work, which until now has
been notoriously hard to locate and access.

IssueLab carries research from nonprofits, foundations, and university
research centers. This is work that does not make its way into academic
journals but is incredibly valuable to practitioners, researchers,
journalists and educators. The site allows users to browse and search
research on a few different criteria, including 34 different issue areas.
And it also allows registered users to comment on research, review it, tag
it, and add it to their own personal libraries. (There are some cool
opportunities here for those of you who teach to engage your students in
evaluating a body of research from nonacademic sources and engaging in an
online discussion about it.)

This service is an interesting effort at solving a long-standing knowledge
management gap in the third sector -- while being a great resource for those
of us working on and studying social issues.

(Check out their recent CloseUp on youth media in particular - it includes a
lot of great research on issues of digital literacy, gaming, and citizen
media. Something for everyone! http://www.issuelab.org/closeup/Mar_2008)
