Perhaps it is an unorthodox suggestion, but rich in history and North
American context in my opinion.
Chapters of "Space, Time, and Communications" and "Tehcnology and
Ideology: The Case of the Telegraph" in
James W. Carey's "Communication as Culture: essays on media and society"
It raises some fundamental questions about the concept of convergence in
general idea of space and time, and its political and economic
implications of the historical roots in the monopoly status of
communications.

> Hi all--I am teaching a graduate course on media convergence. I have a good idea for readings for the course, but wanted some suggestions from list serv members about what they might require graduate students to read. I am purposely not including a description of the course to see what list serv members think about when they consider the term media convergence. I will say this is a theoretically based course. Thanks in advance for any help!
