FACULTY POSITIONS IN THE SCHOOL OF PUBLIC POLICY

START AUGUST 2009

The Georgia Institute of Technology. The program
in Philosophy, Science and Technology (PST) in
the School of Public Policy seeks applications
for one or more full-time, tenure track positions
in philosophy beginning in August 2009 at the
rank of Assistant Professor. We are especially
interested in philosophy of technology or in
ethics of science and technology. We are also
open to a variety of specializations such as
sustainability or emerging technologies like
nanotechnology, digital communication, and bio-medical development.

For one of these positions, the competence and
willingness to teach modern philosophy is
strongly desired. We are also interested in
strengthening Georgia Tech’s Center for Ethics
and Technology. Both positions will involve
working within a highly interdisciplinary and
globally oriented research community with
abundant opportunities for collaboration within
the Institute and across major research universities in Atlanta, Georgia.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae; a
statement of research and teaching interests with
clear evidence of demonstrated teaching success
and the potential for a successful research
program; electronic copies of one or more papers;
and three reference letters. Please send
application by email to
<mailto:facsearch at pubpolicy.gatech.edu>facsearch at pubpolicy.gatech.edu
with “philosophy” in the subject line. If that
is not possible, send to Karen Halsted, Search
Secretary, School of Public Policy, Georgia
Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA 30332-0345, USA.

Review of applications will begin November 10,
2008, and will continue until positions are
filled. The availability of the positions is contingent on funding.

The Georgia Institute of Technology is located in
the heart of Atlanta, a dynamic city with a
tradition of civic pride and diversity. Founded
in 1885, Georgia Tech consistently ranks among
U.S. News & World Report's top ten public
universities in the United States. In a world
that increasingly turns to technology for
solutions, Georgia Tech is using innovative
teaching and advanced research to define the
technological university of the 21st century.
