Announcing an Opening at Texas A&M University--Department of Communication
in Telecommunication Media Studies
The Department of Communication at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Telecommunication Media Studies, starting fall 2009. We are seeking an individual with expertise in international communication, global media, or comparative media systems. Internationalization is a priority and the Department has new initiatives in China and the Asian Pacific region and programs and partnerships in Mexico, South America, Europe, and the Middle East. Topics of interest include communication technologies, cultural studies, feminist theory and criticism, diaspora and immigrant media, race and ethnicity, telecommunication, television studies, political communication, law and policy, or other areas of media studies. The successful candidate’s work will complement that of the existing faculty and other new hires in each of the Department’s areas of strength: telecommunication
media studies, rhetoric and public address, organizational communication, and health communication.
Qualifications include Ph.D. in Communication or related discipline (exceptional ABD candidates may be considered); successful teaching experience; a program of research within the areas described above; promise of significant contribution to Communication; and evidence of potential for graduate instruction.
