The Faculty of Arts at UOW is experiencing an exciting phase of growth and transformation. All its major reaching areas (disciplinary and interdisciplinary) have been or are being reviewed. This is to ensure the most up-to-date curriculum and close articulation with the Faculty's innovative research strengths. The Faculty's existing strength in Asian Studies, including its undergraduate interdisciplinary major and its postgraduate coursework and research programs as well as its ARC Key Centre of Asia-Pacific Social Transformation Studies (CAPSTRANS), will be enhanced with new Asian languages (Indonesian and Mandarin), a range of new academic appointments in a variety of disciplines and a revised undergraduate program. The Faculty's other research priority areas include Innovation in Cultural Research, Citizens, States and Power; and Literature, Identity and Culture. The Faculty is medium-sized but dynamic with a focus on high quality teaching programs, high impact interdisciplinary research and national and international leadership in all its activities.

The School is introducing an exciting and innovative teaching and research initiative in new media, new media culture and digital communication. We are seeking a high quality academic to contribute to the development and growth of this new area at undergraduate level, undertake honours and postgraduate supervision and co-ordinate subjects. To be successful you will have a strong research capability in new media and digital communication and a sound publication record.

The Sociology program is committed to the renewal of its teaching curriculum and to better align its research focus within the Faculty's research strengths. The successful applicant(s) will have demonstrated research outcomes in at least one of the areas of, the sociology of labour/work in the knowledge economy, gender/masculinity studies and Asian studies. You will be able to teach Sociology across all undergraduate and postgraduate levels, undertake Honours and Postgraduate supervision, co-ordinate subjects and contribute to the Program's teaching and its intersection with the School's other programs in media, communication and cultural studies.
