[Air-L] Web Site Analysis Methdology

I have a doctoral student who would like to do some comparative web site analysis in her dissertation.  She is coming to this rather late in her doctoral work and I am looking for some overviews of different approaches, i.e hypertextual, semiotics, rhetorical, visual, links, etc.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated by the both of us.
