Graduate Teaching Assistantships 2010-2011, University of Salford, UK
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Deadline: Friday, 5th February 2010

The University of Salford offers 16 Graduate Teaching Assistantships every
year in a variety of research areas (see
http://www.pg.salford.ac.uk/page/research_areas).

This is a scholarship scheme that offers a valuable opportunity for
postgraduate researchers to study for a PhD while teaching in subjects
broadly related to their PhD research. Previous Graduate Teaching
Assistants (GTAs) report their teaching assistantship has provided
advantages and benefits in a range of professional, industrial, research
and academic careers.

The scholarships are worth £13,290 per year (2009-2010 levels) over three
years. They are available to United Kingdom and European Union students
and, in some research areas, International students.

GTAs work with academic staff in a range of teaching, learning and
assessment activities to support undergraduate student learning for 180
hours per academic year.

Applicants for a Graduate Teaching Assistantship submit a PhD research
application form (including a summary research proposal) and a covering
letter that evidences experience of, and commitment to, university teaching
and learning at undergraduate level.

Applications for the 2010-11 academic session are now open.

Applications close on Friday, 5th February 2010.
