The 6th national Making Links conference is heading to Western Australia for the first time to be held at the State Library of Western Australia in Perth from the 15-17 November 2010, book the date in your calander now. 

The Making Links conference is one of Australia's leading forums for web and IT workers in the not-for-profit and community sectors to showcase their work and to explore current and emerging new media and information and communications technology (ICT).

Submissions are now open to register your interest in presenting at Making Links 2010. 

Submissions should be made by 30 July by submitting a 150 word abstract describing your presentation and a short bio online at

ACADEMIC WORKSHOP - CALL FOR PARTICIPATION AND PRESENTATIONS
Research for Action: Networking University and Community for Social Responsibility

This workshop brings together people from a diverse range of disciplines to discuss how academic researchers and community practitioners and activists can work together to explore the use of information and communication technologies, social media, augmented reality, and other forms of network technologies for research and action in pursuit of social responsibility.

The aim is to connect people with ideas, ideas with research projects, and harness new media to further inquiry into socially just outcomes in our community. This academic workshop will be held in conjunction with Making Links 2010 on Monday, 15th Nov 2010, Perth, Western Australia.

WORKSHOP KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Douglas Schuler (to be confirmed)
Doug Schuler has a masters degree in Software Engineering from Seattle University and a masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington. He's a former chair of Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR), a founding member of the Seattle Community Network (SCN), and a faculty member (Evening and Weekend Studies) of The Evergreen State College where he teaches and learns about technology and social implications of the network society. http://www.scn.org/commnet/doug.html


CLIMATE RISK WORKSHOPS: SYDNEY + MELBOURNE
Climate change is all but certain. How will climate change affect the community sector and the services we provide? How can we prepare?

These and other questions will be addressed in a series of workshops presented by ACOSS, Climate Risk, and Making Links.
