The Sociology and Economics of Networks and Services Team at Orange
Labs/France Telecom R&D is seeking to recruit a PhD candidate, ideally able
to start in October, based at the Orange Lab Center in Paris (
http://www.orange.com/en_EN/innovation/), to work on a research project
investigating the dynamics of Collective Intelligence based on mobiles data.
This PhD proposal deals in particular with the detection of emerging
behaviors and knowledge based on collective information - where the
individual observation reveals noise.The successful candidate will explore
the different forms of collective intelligence which can be implemented, from
the voluntary contribution using the interfaces of mobile devices, to
indirect contribution using the cells informations. He/She will investigates
the reflexivity effects on behaviors and attitudes when users interacts with
theses social cognitions .
The successful candidate will be graduated in
information/sociology/psychology/cognitive/urban sciences. He/She will
have a strong interest of multidisciplinar research methods, especially
human complex systems or behavioral sciences. He/She
will be able to demonstrate skills in networks analysis or social data
mining. He/She will be expected to collaborate with practitioners to help
create relevant and valuable knowledge. Successful candidate will be highly
motivated, and shows good team-work and
organisational skills.
Spoken and written French skills, even if not mandatory, are strongly
relevant.
The contract is a "CIFRE" 3 years duration, 28 000 euros annual salary +
orange group bonus.
