[Air-L] Sharqiyya - a new E-journal - Volume 1, No. 1

Dear Colleague,

The Middle East and Islamic Studies Association of Israel (MEISAI) and the
Middle East and African History Department at Tel Aviv University are happy
to launch a new E-Journal for Middle Eastern Studies, called Sharqiyya. We
plan to publish the the E-Journal twice a year; the first issue can already
be downloaded from the following link: 

Edited by graduate students and supervised by faculty, Sharqiyya is a
somewhat different kind of publication, featuring 3-4 articles per issue
(about 3,000 words each), plus sections on the Internet, cinema, satire, and
poetics. In the words of the Editors:

Sharqiyya is unique in that it draws on contributions by faculty, graduate
students, and independent scholars, who all share a passion for Middle
Eastern histories and cultures, and whose work is informed by first-hand
knowledge of the region's languages and sources.

The Editorial Board invites contributors from around the world and the MENA
region to offer us short articles in English for publication in Sharqiyya.
All submissions must be sent to the Editors by email at
sharqiya at post.tau.ac.il. Please feel free to comment or make suggestions in
order to improve the journal.
