Ed Castronova's book "Synthetic Worlds" refers to several such rebellions in
several different virtual worlds.  The book is his examination of the
economics of Virtual Worlds, and he devotes some time to rebellions as a
means by which players can force the game companies to change the game.  I
recommend it highly.
