*CFP: Challenging the Virtual: Women’s Cultural Experiences in Second Life

*We seek academically framed essays of 5000-7500 words for a collected
edition of essays on women’s cultural experiences in the virtual world of
Second Life (SL). While we do not wish to disenfranchise anyone, we do ask
that you be a woman actively/currently participating in SL.

We value the experiences that every woman has in SL and welcome all topics
and disciplines, but as we already have an interested publisher, it is
required that these essays have an academic frame.

We do NOT want to limit the ideas that you may generate, but to diversify
the manuscript already in hand we are most interested in the following:

• SL Economics and Business/Entrepreneurship

• Artistic and Creative Expression via Building, Scripting, Animation

• Performance/SL Live Music

• Subculture Identities (Gorean, Furry, Neko, Sci-fi, Borg, Tinies,
Roleplay, Child Avatars, etc)

• Relationships/Defining Personal Boundaries (Intimacy/Privacy in Digital
Environments)

Deadline for submissions: 30 November 2010

Length: 5000-7500 words

Please send submissions to zoe at msu.edu & steorling at sbcglobal.net

For more info, contact editors Zoe McMillan (zoe at msu.edu) or Steorling Heron
(steorling at sbcglobal.net)
