KENTUCKY, LEXINGTON 40506-0027.  The University of Kentucky, Department of
Geography seeks applicants for a tenure track position with research and
teaching expertise in Geographic Information Science.  Appointment will be
at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, commencing Fall 2011.  

The successful candidate will blend an active interest and strong technical
expertise in GIS with research that directly and critically engages with
information, visualization and geospatial technologies in ways that
complement existing faculty strengths in human or environmental geography.
A commitment to developing GIS capacity and interdisciplinary collaboration
within the College and University across the social sciences, humanities and
earth sciences is desirable.  The U.K. College of Arts and Sciences is
committed to developing a robust Center for Geographical Information
Systems. 

Applicants should submit (1) a current curriculum vitae; (2) a research and
teaching statement; and (3) up to three research related reprints as per the
instructions below.  Applicants should also arrange for three letters of
reference (in hard copy) to be submitted by the start of the review process.
The formal review process will begin on October 15, 2010, and will continue
until the position is filled.  A Ph.D. is required at time of appointment.
