The Journalism and Media Research Centre at the University of New South Wales invites you to attend a public talk by director Professor Catharine Lumby on "The Adaptive Moment: A Fresh Approach to Convergent Media in Australia"

In December 2010, the Australian Government announced the Convergence Review, a comprehensive examination of Australia's approach to the rules of the new environment of media and communications. Professor Lumby and Associate Professor Kate Crawford's took up the challenge and in this report they provide a foundation for the national debate on Convergence - a debate we have to have. This will be a unique opportunity to discuss the way forward for Australia's new media and communications environment with leading experts from government, Australian industry and the tertiary sector.

Catharine Lumby is the Director of the Journalism and Media Research at the University of New South Wales. She was the Foundation Chair of the Media and Communications Department at the University of Sydney. She is the author of seven books and numerous book chapters and journal articles. Professor Lumby is a well-known public commentator who has worked as a news reporter, feature writer and columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald and the Bulletin magazine. She sits on the Education and Welfare Committee and the Research Committee of the National Rugby League, advising them on gender issues. She is also a member of the Advertising Standards Board. She has been awarded five Australian Research Council grants and is a member of the ARC Cultural Research Network. Her latest book is The Porn Report (Melbourne University Publishing, 2008) co-authored with Alan McKee and Kath Albury.
